Greetings and Welcome to Language Arts 1-2 Honors!

Below is a comprehensive list of materials that can help you and your student succeed in my class.  I try very hard to update this site with weekly information or links that provide additional practice for your student.  If you have any questions, or find a link that is not current, please contact me.

NOTICE FOR STUDENTS WISHING TO CONTINUE INTO LA 3-4 (HONORS)

Your eligibility to continue in the Honors program here at MRHS has concluded.  You will be registering for the 2009-2010 school year during the first week of the semester.  If you met the requirements (a lot of you did! CONGRARTS!), I will gladly be signing your registration cards.  I can also do this if you are interested in taking World History Honors.  Please realize, your grade, your timed writes, your overall maturity, and the signed registration permission slip were all needed in making this decision.

MATERIALS FOR LANGUAGE ARTS 1-2 HONORS:

  • To see the 2008-2009 Language Arts 1-2 Honors syllabus: click herePlease note that the syllabus provided to you on the first day of school did not have the correct information on literature that we will be reading.  Your student will be reading the following texts: To Kill A Mockingbird, Wuthering Heights, and Romeo & Juliet.  I apologize for this mistake.

TIMED WRITE INFORMATION:  Student's will be reading Wuthering Heights to prepare for their first spring Timed Write of next semester.  With that in mind, I am going to start raising the challenges for students to start becoming more and more prepared with Timed Writes as they progress towards entering the Advanced Program here at Mountain Ridge.  These impromptu Timed Writes are there to help students prepare better at answering the prompt, finding an original voice and helping students lower their stress levels when it comes to Timed Write situations (in class, or in bigger situations... like AIMS!).
